I use a very old Logitech quick cam. It's a quickcam fusion that I bought circa 2007. I just plugged it in the USB port on my windows 8.1 Acer computer, and windows automatically installed the correct driver. I have no idea what driver it is, but it works. I didn't have to manually install any software or drivers. I use it for google hangouts video chat, and I assume it would also work fine for skype too.

It doesn't look like you can use 8.4.8 software (I don't think), but windows should install the correct driver when you plug it in automatically. But there are so many quickcam models.....it's possible that some really old quickcams aren't supported.

The QuickCam driver is currently available in two forms. The qc-usb driver was originally focused on the QuickCam Web, but should now work with all cameras that work also with qce-ga. It contains a superset qce-ga's features and is the preferred driver. Almost everyone will use this driver. Download it from our Sourceforge release page.
